Francesco Ragazzi returns with a timely and colourful Palm Angels SS18 capsule collection, sported by Bronx rapper Smooky MarGielaa.
Consisting of fresh spins on classic piece, the “Palm Island” collection brings the best of Palm Angels designer and Moncler Artistic Director Francesco Ragazzi for a timely warm weather garment expression. The exclusive collection offers reworked pieces with lively tropical prints and vivid colours dominating the summer capsule.
Standout pieces from the concise assemblage include the tri-coloured bleached logo T-shirt, grey bleached logo hoodie and the animated All-Over print shirt, all seen sported by no other than young A$AP Mob protegé Smooky MarGielaa. The brand’s now recognizable tracksuit unsurprisingly makes another appearance, this time in nylon and features gradient stripes emblazoned down the two sides. The rest of the collection is rounded out with simple branded pieces such as swim shorts, belts, caps and socks.
It’s also fascinating to see how Palm Angels stay true to the core of its roots, despite rising to become one of the hottest brands over the past couple of years. Inspired by the angelic suspended skateboarders of Venice Beach, or “Palm Angels,” Ragazzi continues to capture an authentic Californian feel with a wide array of influences, from 70s and 80s to the ruggedness of the skaters themselves.
The capsule as a whole makes for a gritty assortment of casual essentials for life under the sun in the coming months.
