Concert Review: Lane 8 At The Hoxton

26-year-old Daniel Goldstein (better known by his stage name, Lane 8) is one of the most talented deep house producers to join the international music scene in the last few years. Lane 8 is currently on the North American leg of his global tour following the major success of his debut album, Rise.

Rise was released via the popular British Deep House label, Anjunadeep. Notable guest appearances on the 11 track compilation include Lulu James, Solomon Grey, Patrick Baker, Ara Scott, and Matthew Dear.

After listening to the album in its entirety, we knew that we HAD to see him perform at the next opportunity that worked in terms of proximity. On October 9th, LYFSTYL attended Lane 8’s first Toronto appearance (at the popular venue – The Hoxton) since his June 2015 performance at Bestival.

We had high hopes going in, and we were not to be disappointed. Lane 8 exceeds all and any expectations that we had. In fact, he shattered them. His performance was captivating and left us wanting more and more and more. The energy and thought that he puts into his song creation and selection is extremely evident in his live performance. The crowd was pretty much in a trance-like-state for the entire night; and so were we.

His remixes are both clever and unique. His original tracks are equally divine. The songs are deep in nature but feature an assortment of accompanying instruments. The combination provides a sound so rich that you feel it in your core. The accompaniment of soulful and hypnotic vocals tips it over the edge and takes it from great to spectacular.

Lane 8’s North American tour continues till the end of the month. To find a city near you click here.
