The force behind many of Yung Lean’s best production is Yung Gud, the dark, textural wizard of bass synths. On his latest solo track, “My Stomach Is A Lion,” Gud gives us simple piano melodies for about thirty seconds, setting a very nostalgic, saddened mood muted with crackles. It then opens into a massive, rumbling bass synth nightmare with acoustic bass layered underneath. It’s miasmic and warm all at the same time and will rattle your rib cage to pieces. I put it on with the volume up too high in my car, park next to lake and lay in the back letting his sounds quietly destroy me.
